Resource overview

This question paper is listed under Chemistry in the 2017 examination archive. Its catalogue level is SL. The catalogue session is May. The information below helps you identify the document before opening the complete PDF. Subject, year and session labels come from the archive catalogue; the original cover remains the reference if a label differs. A file is not automatically suitable for your current syllabus simply because its subject name matches.

For revision, choose a manageable section and attempt it before consulting the matching markscheme. Keep a short error log separating knowledge gaps, method choices and unclear explanation. Compare the paper number, level and examination zone before pairing files. Older papers can be useful practice, but their topic coverage and format may differ from the course you are taking now.

The public preview contains file information and, where reliable text extraction is available, a limited opening excerpt. It is not a summary of unseen questions or a replacement for the original document. Create a free email account to read or download the complete file. No payment is required to unlock this archive resource.

This original usage overview is based on the archive metadata. It does not claim to summarise the complete file.

Write your answers in the boxes provided. A class was determining the concentration of aqueous sodium hydroxide by titrating it with hydrochloric acid, whilst monitoring the pH of the solution. The sodium hydroxide solution was added into a glass beaker from a measuring cylinder and the hydrochloric acid added using a burette. One group of students accidentally used a temperature probe rather than a pH probe. Their results are given below. Volume of aqueous NaOH = 25.0 ± 0.5 cm3 Concentration of HCl = 1.00 ± 0.01 mol dm−3 Volume HCl ± 0.1 / cm3 0.0 5.0 10.0 15.0 20.0 25.0 30.0 35.0 40.0 45.0 50.0 55.0 60.0 Temperature ± 0.1 / C 21.3 22.9 24.2 25.1 25.9 26.6 27.2 27.6 27.2 26.8 26.5 26.2 25.9 Volume of HCl / cm3 Temperature / C 0 10 20 30 40 50 60 30 29 28 27 26 25 24 23 22 21 20 A B C D 1.
