Resource overview

This essay / exemplar is listed under Physics in the 2013 examination archive. The catalogue session is May 2013. The information below helps you identify the document before opening the complete PDF. Subject, year and session labels come from the archive catalogue; the original cover remains the reference if a label differs. A file is not automatically suitable for your current syllabus simply because its subject name matches.

For coursework research, read this document as a reference rather than a template to submit. Notice how the question, evidence and explanation connect. If a paired commentary or subject report is available, compare it with the original work instead of assuming a polished essay received a particular mark. Historical examples may belong to an earlier assessment framework.

The public preview contains file information and, where reliable text extraction is available, a limited opening excerpt. It is not a summary of unseen questions or a replacement for the original document. Create a free email account to read or download the complete file. n this cover and their final version of the extended essay to their are is K: Holistic judgement: wants to be an engineer and decided to choose a topic related to that. The physics behind the properties of a catenary is quite hard and involves math beyond the requirements, differential equations especially. The initial difficulty for was to identify what property to study and how to go about it without facing mathematical problems that were too hard. Over the summer he independently came up with the idea of having an experimental approach and to build a catenary model himself. On his own he contacted a university to get sensor equipment as he did not want to wait for the new term to start. The model was crafted with the variables tested in mind. has demonstrated the equipment for me and shown how the placing of the weights affect the strain and shape of the catenary. In his viva voce explained that through this project he has started to fully appreciate the hard work needed to get a full understanding of the physics behind engineering, and he still wants to pursue this as a carrier. Of course I cannot guarantee that understands all of the physics that is referred to in his bibliography, but I can clearly say that he has acquired the necessary knowledge in this literature to understand and analyse his investigation. has followed the internal deadlines, which has allowed me to steadily monitor the progress of the investigation and writing. I can confidently say that this is his work. a
