Resource overview

This case study is listed under Business management in the 2012 examination archive. Its catalogue level is SL and HL. The information below helps you identify the document before opening the complete PDF. Subject, year and session labels come from the archive catalogue; the original cover remains the reference if a label differs. A file is not automatically suitable for your current syllabus simply because its subject name matches.

For revision, choose a manageable section and attempt it before consulting the matching markscheme. Keep a short error log separating knowledge gaps, method choices and unclear explanation. Compare the paper number, level and examination zone before pairing files. Older papers can be useful practice, but their topic coverage and format may differ from the course you are taking now.

The public preview contains file information and, where reliable text extraction is available, a limited opening excerpt. From 2006 to 2008, Loyka was torn by civil war. When the fighting ceased, a new coalition government was established, but its hold on the situation was fragile. This structure fitted well with the organizational culture of the military. This organization was not flexible, but it ensured that orders were clearly understood and always followed. As a consequence the security of the UWP troops was maintained. In the first years, the UWP Mission to Loyka experienced some successes but also some failures. The presence of “the Olive Hats” gave a sense of stability and international support. It also benefited the local business community: the provisions for the troops were purchased locally, the soldiers spent a significant proportion of their pay in the local economy and also helped repair roads and bridges that had been damaged during the civil war. As a result of these improvements in infrastructure, local
